I'm Twenty-One!!

Happy Birthday To Me!!

Yesterday (24th March) I turned 21 !! Now, I freaked out turning 20 so I thought that turning 21 was going to be a whole massive ordeal. Luckily, it wasn't! After freaking out a little bit I opened my presents. My boyfriend got me an amazing record player with a Jimi Hendrix Vinyl!! Well, I was speechless!!

Then after that my boyfriend and I walked into town and I saw a car that looked like my parents (After for weeks telling me they couldn't come) Then I had someone who resembled my mum trying to duck of which I said 'It's my parents!!!' I started crying because I was so happy to see them. They had surprised coming to see me! But also with my Auntie and her husband!

We headed to my brother, Julian's exhibition. Click here to see his website. He had his time-lapse pieces up and his photographer partner, Brett also had his work featured. Their website is here.

After that we headed for lunch at an lovely Italian restaurant, where I was yet again surprised with a beautiful tasty cake that my mum had made for me! (I genuinely thought she had it made up by someone else it was that good! And so tasty!! I was also given some really lovely gifts and opened up all of my cards.

We then headed back to my brother's exhibition and back to mine where I met some friends and we went our for a lovely thai meal. We went back home and then my housemates surprised me with a cake and red wine.

AND! I'm also going to London for a few days with my lovely other half. I'm the luckiest girl ever!

Thank you everyone for a wonderful day. I love you all! XXXX

Screen printing!

The other day I did some screen printing for the first time properly. I didn't really appreciate the time that it took to do these. But I'm incredibly happy with the outcome! :)

Greenwich

Whilst I was in London I went to Greenwich to see my good and old friend, Sam Gilbert. We stood not he Greenwich Time Line where all time in the word is measured from... it's strange to think that I stood where there was technically no time.

Here's some photos...

Stop-motion of London Liverpool Street

Click here to watch the Youtube video

I had some time to kill before heading to Sam Winston's studio. So I stood at the most central point that I could at London Liverpool Street Station and shot a stop motion straight on my iPhone. When you think about all the different types of people that pass through one space at any given time, it's actually quite remarkable. Anyway, the clip is only short but I hope you enjoy it.

Platform 9 3/4

I almost took a detour today and ended up in Hogwarts. Thank goodness I didn't make it through! I would have missed my 8.30am train from Kings Cross...

Wow-Oh-Wow // Day Two, Three, Four

I'll begin to try and write about these past few days... (I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense- I'm still trying to digest everything myself)...

WOW

I've finished my first weeks work placement with Sam Winston. If you don't know who he is, I suggest you click on his name and find out.

I had the great opportunity yesterday to have a look at Sam's original 'Orphan' story.

These are a few pictures of his piece.

beautiful

Then later on in the afternoon we went to see George, a very talented print man who has an exceptional eye for imperfections. Sam went to get some prints of his Death festival piece.
I really wanted to attend the exhibition at the South Bank Centre but I unfortunately couldn't make it down but he was kind enough to let me draw my very own circle on the birth piece.

These were all drawn by hand.

The tally's Sam created to keep track of how many circles he had drawn.

TEA!

I'm gradually making my way through Sam's extensive tea collection. Peppermint, camomile and honey, white tea, elderflower etc etc

This is the view form George's studio floor. This was just before the sun started to set.

(A really yummy very berry smoothie I had this morning... NOM!)

Today I had the opportunity to work on another project Sam is currently doing with Oliver Jeffers.

I was cutting out the type from children's stories to scan in to create another form of artwork. (If this book gets published, I am running to the nearest book shop, buying it and I will scream in excitement that I had a very small input into a great piece of work)

All in all, an absolutely great week. It's nice to have a change from the same day-in, day-out routine I have and to travel and do something different and learn something new and to simply meet new people and enjoy it.
